Matthew Bolton Defends Dave Stephens Title

Matthew Bolton has won the Dave Stephens Memorial Handicap Snooker for the second year in a row, defeating Peter McCullagh 3-2 in the final. In one of the most hotly contested finals of recent years, no fewer than four breaks of 70+ were made in the five frames of the final, including the tournament high break of 124 by Peter McCullagh as he levelled the score at 2-2. This surpassed the previous highest of the day of 113 held jointly by Peter and Matthew.

An incredible effort by the fundraising team of Mike Peachey, Kerry de Pradines, Narelle Adams and Matthew Bolton saw a total of $2750 raised for the Cancer Council WA, more than double our previous record amount. An impressive array of prizes donated for the raffle saw $1000 raised from ticket sales – the winners of the prizes were as follows:

A new honour board has also been created to commemorate the event which will soon be mounted on the wall at Pot Black Family Pool & Snooker Centre North Perth, marking the importance of the Dave Stephens event on the BSAWA calendar.
