State Snooker Championship

3 May 2018

Due to the record field of entries in 2017, it has been necessary to expand the format for the 2018 State Snooker Championship. This means playing the event over two weekends:

26-27 May Round Robin Qualifiers

2-4 June Knockout Stages

40 players will compete in the Round Robin, with those seeded higher beyond 40 total entries qualifying directly for the Knockout – i.e. if there are 48 total entries, 8 players will be seeded through; with 52 entries, 12 players will be seeded through.

The Round Robin will be 8 groups of 5 players, so each player will have 4 matches to play, Best of 3 Frames.

Half the groups will play on Saturday 26 May, the other half on Sunday 27 May, so you only need to be available to play on one of the days. You can select your preference for Saturday or Sunday when submitting your entry through the website – we will try to accommodate everyone's request, but it's first-in best-dressed.

The top 2 players from each group will qualify for the knockout on the following weekend. Matches in the knockout are a minimum Best of 7 Frames, with Semi Finals Best of 9, Final Best of 11.

Entry Fee: $70

All players will receive $20 in vouchers to be used at the bar on either weekend.

Full tournament dress rules apply for both the Round Robin and Knockout: Long sleeve predominately plain coloured shirts buttoned at the wrist, bow ties and dark colour dress shoes must be worn for all matches. No sports style shoes, sandals, or boots will be allowed. Waistcoats are required from the Quarter Finals. Note that bow ties must be worn – standard neck ties are not acceptable.

Entries close: Sunday 20 May

This is to allow for the draw to be completed and players to be notified of their playing dates – so get your entry in now!
